Vanessa Yanhua Zhang

Dr Vanessa Yanhua Zhang specializes in economics analysis in competition policy. She has worked a wide range of competition matters involving allegations of monopolization, foreclosure practices, vertical restraints, merger analysis and intellectual property. She has consulted on projects across various industries, such as payment card, banking, pharmaceutical, high tech, electricity, telecommunication, and consumer products. She is the author of several academic articles on China's merger control and Anti-Monopoly Law (AML), economic analysis of competition policy, conspiracies, electricity market, and has published in peer-reviewed journals such as Journal of Competition Law and Economics, Review of Industrial Organization, Annals of Economics and Statistics (Annales d'Economie et Statistique), Competition Policy International, Global Competition Policy, Singapore Economic Review, Revue Européenne de Droit et d'Economie. She has provided comments on China's AML, Intellectual Property and related regulations to Chinese enforcement agencies. She is recognized by Euromoney's 2010-2014 Expert Guide to the World's Leading Competition and Antitrust Lawyers/Economist: China.

Dr Zhang has taught regulation and antitrust economics to graduate students at Renmin University of China. She is also the Editor of the Asia Antitrust Column at Competition Policy International. Prior to joining Global Economics Group (GlobalEcon), Dr Zhang took various positions at Law and Economics Consulting Group (LECG), worked as a visiting researcher at CPB Netherland Bureau for Economic Policy Analysis, and was a lecturer at the University of Toulouse in France.
