Edgar Ancona

Edgar Ancona is a Principal and member of the Global Economics Group Advisory Board. He brings a 40+ year career in finance, treasury and risk management at large financial institutions in the US, Asia, Latin America and UK.

From 2003-2012, Edgar had various executive roles at HSBC including Treasurer HSBC Finance (2003-2006), CFO Asia Pacific (2006-2009) and CFO North America (2009-2012). His focus was on capital management, improving controls and reducing costs. He also served as a key manager of investor and regulatory relationships. As Treasurer and head of Strategy for Household International (1994-2003), Edgar created a diversified funding program that successfully withstood a significant liquidity crisis in the CP market in 2002. At Citibank (1977-1993), Edgar worked principally in treasury and capital markets.

Edgar served as a Non-Executive Director and Chair of the Audit and Risk Committees of HSBC Latin America (2012-2022) and HSBC Mexico (2015-2022). He currently serves as the Chair of the Lally Leadership Council at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
