Peter Levitt is a seasoned financial executive with over four decades of experience in the banking and financial services industry. From August 2012 to October 2022, he led CIBC’s Treasury Division, with additional oversight of the Tax Division from March 2020. In this role, Mr. Levitt was responsible for all aspects of CIBC’s treasury functions, including asset liability management, liquidity risk management, capital management, funding, and treasury investment management. He also managed external Treasury-related stakeholder relationships and worked to promote financial stability through sound legislation and policy.

Prior to his tenure at CIBC, Mr. Levitt served as Executive Vice-President and Treasurer at Manulife Financial from 2007 to 2012. His career also includes leadership positions at TD Bank and Canada Trust, where he held various roles in treasury, finance, and technology. Throughout his career, Mr. Levitt has managed global teams across multiple continents, navigating diverse regulatory, legal, and cultural landscapes.

Mr. Levitt is actively involved in numerous boards and advisory committees, including E-L Financial Corporation, United for Literacy Foundation, and Novacap Financial Services private equity fund. He is also committed to various inclusion and diversity initiatives and supports organizations such as C.D. Howe and the Global Risk Institute. Mr. Levitt holds an Executive MBA from the Ivey School of Business at the University of Western Ontario.
