Scott R. Murray is a principal-level economic consultant with more than 30 years of experience supporting expert witnesses, law firms, corporations, and regulators in high-stakes litigation, regulatory proceedings, and strategic transactions. His work focuses on economic damages, antitrust and competition analysis, valuation, financial modeling, market definition, and industry analysis. He has extensive experience translating complex quantitative analyses into clear, defensible expert reports and testimony.
Mr. Murray has led and supported economic analyses in commercial disputes, class actions, and regulatory matters involving allegations of anticompetitive conduct, breach of contract, and valuation disputes. His experience includes developing lost profits and price suppression models, conducting market definition and market power assessments, performing class-wide impact analyses, and designing econometric models to evaluate pricing behavior and competitive effects. He has collaborated closely with testifying experts and legal teams to prepare expert reports, rebuttal analyses, deposition materials, and trial exhibits.
Prior to rejoining Global Economics Group, Mr. Murray served as Senior Vice President and Head of Analytics at What’s Next in Media (PTMNTS), where he directed large-scale empirical research programs analyzing consumer and business behavior across payment ecosystems. He conducted market structure and pricing analyses in platform and network industries, including payment systems, digital wallets, and embedded finance, with a focus on network effects and competitive dynamics. Earlier in his career, he held senior roles at Trinity Capital Services, Qwest Digital Media, and Chicago Partners, and began his career as a statistician at the U.S. International Trade Commission.
Mr. Murray holds an MBA with concentrations in Analytic Finance, Statistics, and Accounting from the University of Chicago and a B.S. in Economics from the University of Kansas. He has taught corporate financial management at the University of Colorado at Denver and has published on topics including value at risk, payments systems, and retail sales measurement.
