Steven Davis is the Thomas W. and Susan B. Ford Senior Fellow at the Hoover Institution, Senior Fellow at Stanford Institute for Economic Policy Research (SIEPR), and William H. Abbott Distinguished Service Professor Emeritus of International Business and Economics at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business.

An applied economist, Davis has published on employment and wage behavior, worker mobility, job loss, labor market institutions, business dynamics, industrial organization, economic fluctuations, national economic performance, public policy and other topics. He is Editor of the American Economic Journal: Macroeconomics, a research associate with the National Bureau of Economic Research, an economic adviser to the U.S. Congressional Budget Office, a visiting scholar at the Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia, and a senior adviser to the Brookings Papers on Economic Activity. Previously, he held positions at the National University of Singapore, Massachusetts Institute of Technology and the Hoover Institution at Stanford University.

Davis advises a leading financial institution on the macroeconomic outlook, capital planning, and credit loss forecasting. In the antitrust area, he has testified and consulted on market definition, dominance, exclusionary practices, price discrimination and collusive behavior. In the areas of mortgage lending and consumer finance, he has testified and consulted on class certification, liability and damages. Davis has also offered testimony and analysis on damages in breach of contract, credit market discrimination, reasonable royalties and lost earnings. Previous engagements include matters involving auto loans and leases, commercial and mortgage lending, financial institution goodwill, microprocessors, pharmaceuticals pricing, software products and markets, trade shows, viatical and life settlements, and workers’ compensation insurance.
